Phunky Studio, the production company behind MBC’s idol audition program Boy Fantasy – After-School Excitement 2, has issued a formal warning and threatened legal action against former FANTASY BOYS member Yu Junwon after discovering his plans to hold an unauthorized fan meeting in Japan. The announcement was made after Yu Junwon announced via social media that tickets for the event, slated for March 7–8, would go on sale — drawing immediate concern from industry insiders and fans alike.

According to Phunky Studio, this marks the second attempt by Yu Junwon to independently organize a fan event without prior consultation with the company. In 2024, he had previously attempted to move forward with a Japan fan meeting, prompting cancellation after the company intervened. Phunky Studio emphasized that Japan’s entertainment industry generally follows an unwritten convention of suspending activities involving contract disputes. They assert that the current independent event — reportedly organized through a separate entity, MY ENT SHOP — violates both this custom and contractual norms.
Phunky Studio has also signaled that it will pursue legal action not only against Yu Junwon personally but also against the parties supporting the fan meeting. The production company stated that it plans to send official notices and seek injunctions to prohibit the performance, as well as pursue damages. Japanese management partner Kiss Entertainment has echoed the warning, confirming that it may file a lawsuit if the event continues as planned.

Yu Junwon is no stranger to legal conflict with Phunky Studio. Last year, his request for a provisional injunction to suspend his exclusive contract was dismissed by a court. Phunky Studio is simultaneously pursuing a ₩3 billion (about $2.2 million USD) damages lawsuit against him for contract breaches related to earlier unauthorized activities.

Fans have expressed mixed reactions online, with some supporting Yu Junwon’s right to pursue independent career paths, while others stress the importance of observing legal and contractual processes. As the situation develops, its outcome may have implications for artist rights, agency contracts, and industry norms around unauthorized events within K-pop management structures.
