BTS has officially confirmed their long-awaited full-group comeback for March 20, 2026, ending a nearly four-year hiatus that began as members fulfilled mandatory military service in South Korea1. The announcement was made on New Year’s Day via official posts from their label Big Hit Music, as well as handwritten letters sent to gold membership fans of the group’s dedicated fanbase, ARMY.
The comeback will be anchored by a brand-new full-length studio album, the group’s first collective release since their 2022 anthology Proof. Big Hit Music shared in a statement, "We have been waiting more eagerly than anyone to bring BTS back together for their fans. March 20th will mark the start of an exciting new chapter for the group".

Details about the album’s sound or themes have not yet been revealed, but RM, the group’s leader, has been updating fans on progress for months. In a November 2025 Weverse post, he shared, "The music is coming out really well!! Everyone’s trying. Please look forward to it". During a New Year’s Eve 2025 group livestream on Weverse, the members expressed their excitement and hopes for the project, with Jungkook noting, "I think this spring will be more important than ever".
Alongside the album, Big Hit has confirmed that BTS will embark on a large-scale world tour following the release, though specific dates, venues, or ticketing details have not yet been announced. Industry analysts expect the tour to break records: BTS’ past global outings have consistently sold out stadiums across the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America within minutes, and demand is expected to be even higher following their hiatus.

The comeback follows the completion of military service for all seven members: Jin, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, Jungkook, and Suga, who was the final member to finish his service in June 2025. Since the group went on hiatus, each member has pursued successful solo careers, with every member’s solo album surpassing 1 billion streams on Spotify a historic milestone confirmed just days ago on New Year’s Eve.
To build anticipation ahead of the comeback, the group recently launched "BTS Movie Weeks," a global theatrical event featuring four of their iconic concert films which has already grossed over $10 million at the worldwide box office. The screenings, held in more than 80 territories, have allowed fans to revisit the group’s live performances while counting down to their return.
BTS first teased their comeback plans in June 2025, shortly after all members had reunited following their military discharges. At the time, they shared in a group statement, "We’ll be releasing a new BTS album in the spring of next year… we’re also planning a world tour alongside the new album. We’ll be visiting fans all around the world, so we hope you’re as excited as we are".
Since their debut in 2013, BTS has redefined global music, becoming the first South Korean act to top the Billboard Hot 100, earning six No.1 hits on the chart, and claiming six No.1 albums on the Billboard 2003. They were also named IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year in 2020 and 2021, the first act ever to win the award consecutively.
News of the confirmed comeback sparked immediate celebration across social media, with hashtags related to the announcement trending worldwide within hours. For ARMY, the date marks the end of years of waiting, while the music industry is bracing for what is expected to be one of the biggest releases and tours of the decade.
