Park Min-hyuk, known professionally as Rocky and former member of iconic K-pop group ASTRO, has been appointed Executive Director of the Global K-pop Center, the organization announced Tuesday. The appointment, effective January 7, sees Rocky leading strategic efforts across performance, choreography, and artist training as the center ramps up international expansion plans.

The Global K-pop Center, a joint venture between PH E&M (CEO Park Byung Geon) and KBS Sports World, operates as a comprehensive hub for K-pop innovation, with partnerships spanning Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. Its mission includes building a sustainable industry ecosystem through global IP production and cross-border collaboration a vision that aligns with Rocky’s own career trajectory as both a performer and creative leader.
During his eight-year tenure with ASTRO (2016–2023), Rocky emerged as a key creative force, co-designing choreography for hits like "Blue Flame" and contributing to songwriting for tracks including "When the Wind Blows" and unit releases with bandmate Jinjin. After launching his own agency One Fine Day Entertainment in 2023 and debuting as a solo artist, he expanded his expertise into production and artist management experience that will now inform his role at the center.

In his new position, Rocky will oversee enhancement of training curricula, plan global auditions, develop content production strategies, and provide artistic direction for stage shows. “My goal is to create a system where emerging talents can grow steadily while staying true to their unique voices,” he stated in an official release. “K-pop’s strength lies in its ability to connect cultures, and I want to help the next generation carry that forward.”
The center has also revealed plans to launch regional audition programs in Southeast Asia this year, Local industry insiders note that Rocky’s familiarity with global fan communities honed through ASTRO’s world tours and his solo activities in Japan and Southeast Asia will be instrumental in bridging regional markets.
