Starship Entertainment has released a strong statement following the South Korean Supreme Court’s final ruling against the YouTube channel Sojang, which was found guilty of repeatedly spreading false and malicious rumors targeting IVE member Jang Wonyoung. The ruling confirms penalties including a suspended sentence, financial fines, and mandatory community service, bringing a long-running legal battle to a close.

The case has been closely watched across the entertainment industry, as it marks one of the most high-profile legal actions taken against anonymous online defamation aimed at K-pop artists. According to court findings, Sojang engaged in deliberate misinformation and character attacks that caused reputational harm, with the Supreme Court affirming lower court decisions without remand.
In response, Starship Entertainment reiterated its zero-tolerance stance toward cyber defamation, stating that protecting its artists’ dignity, mental well-being, and legal rights remains a top priority. The agency emphasized that it will continue to pursue both civil and criminal action against individuals or platforms that engage in slander, harassment, or the circulation of false information—regardless of anonymity.

The ruling has been widely welcomed by fans and advocacy groups, who see it as a meaningful precedent in holding online content creators accountable for harmful behavior. Legal experts note that the decision could influence future cases involving digital harassment within the entertainment sector.
Meanwhile, IVE continues to focus on their music activities. The group is preparing for the release of their second full-length album, REVIVE+, scheduled for February 23 (KST), with a pre-release single titled “Bang Bang” set to drop on February 9 at 6 PM KST.
Editorial update: Industry insiders observe that agencies are increasingly strengthening legal teams and monitoring systems, signaling a broader shift toward proactive artist protection in the evolving digital landscape.
As IVE moves forward with their comeback, the Supreme Court ruling stands as a significant moment in reinforcing boundaries between public interest, freedom of expression, and personal accountability online.
