South Korean actor Jung Eun Woo, a reliable character actor with a solid filmography of TV dramas and movies, has passed away at the age of 40, media confirmed on Wednesday. According to the industry sources, the actor died on February 11 and the funeral took place on February 13 in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province. The authorities have not stated the cause of death as the family asked for privacy.
Jung Dong Jin, who later became known by his stage name Jung Eun Woo, was born on April 10, 1986, in Incheon. He is a graduate of the Department of Theater and Film at Dongguk University. In 2006, he made his acting debut through the youth drama Sharp 3 on KBS2. Jung earned his living as a versatile supporting actor over the next 20 years. By appearing in popular TV series such as Bride of the Sun, Five Fingers, One Well, Raised Daughter, The Return of Hwang Geum, bok and My Only One, he successfully gained the general public's attention and secured his position in the Korean drama industry.
Besides TV dramas, he has also been involved in feature films, with Memory: Manipulated Murder (2021) being his last project. Fellow actors and fans have described him as a quiet, professional and diligent artist. The funeral is taking place in New Goryeo Hospital Funeral Hall, and he will be laid to rest at Byeokje Seunghwawon. One of the most touching aspects of this story, highlighted by several news outlets, is that Jung had posted a very enigmatic message on his social media just a day before he died it was a collage of images of deceased cultural icons, and the text was Missing, envied, regretted. That post has become deeply meaningful to fans and fellow artists, emotionally.
