On a recent episode of MBC's new undercover reality series, Secret Santa Club, a Korean variety show remake of the classic manitto (secret friend) game, BLACKPINK's Jennie took fellow cast member Dex by surprise with a series of thoughtful gifts that showed how much she cared. The show, which debuted on February 1 and runs Sundays at 6:05 PM KST, celebrities are the secret gift, givers who have to cleverly come up with the idea and quietly give a present to their manitto without revealing who they are.
Last week, Jennie, Dex, Choo Sung hoon, Noh Hong, chul, and Lee Sooji, the cast members, have been forced to get more and more creative and suspenseful with their missions for each new episode. On that day, Jennie had a strategy to win over her manitto, Dex, by being the most generous one in the group. She did it by carefully opening 504 name, branded snacks and finding one with Jin, young, Dex's real name written on it, the little success that led to the first step in her gift plan.
Since then, Jennie has given Dex choices for six different gifts all of which were meant to reflect the wonders of Dex's personality or favorite things such as health supplements, figures of his favorite characters, equipment for outdoor camping, a rain protection tool, and a portable knife with many functions. Jennie, on her own initiative, carried out a "gift throwing" event and cleverly dispersed the parcels at the gym door of Dex and later on the stairway. all while maintaining her undercover status.
Later, Dex revealed the thoughtful gifts one after the other, showing the emotions he felt in the selection especially when he came across the snack bearing his name. "He understands me so well... I'm very touched, " Dex said smiling and pointing out the personal contact reflected in each product.
The nice moment quickly turned into a great scene of the show, a perfect mix of playful entertainment and deeply emotional feelings. Secret Santa Club is still gaining attention with its combo of comedy, shock, and real emotions, thus attracting fans who are curious about the next series of undercover adventures.
