Seunghun of CIX Quits to Music Career as Group Disbands

In a poignant turn for K-pop fans, Seunghun—vocalist of the boy group CIX—has decided to step away from the spotlight, marking the end of an era for the act that captured hearts since its 2019 debut. The announcement came just days after C9 Entertainment confirmed the group's disbandment on April 30, following the expiration of the members' exclusive contracts.

Originally a five-member unit featuring BX (Byeonggon), Seunghun, Yonghee, Hyunsuk, and Bae Jin-young (who departed in 2024), CIX carved out a dedicated following with their smooth vocals and heartfelt performances. Seunghun, a veteran of multiple survival programs who trained for nearly a decade before debuting, shared his thoughts in a handwritten letter posted to Instagram. Addressing fans as "FIX," the 27-year-old opened up with raw honesty about the whirlwind seven years.

"Seven years have gone by in the blink of an eye," he wrote. He admitted to feeling inadequate at times, making mistakes, and struggling when his "heart became cluttered" with personal burdens, which distanced him from fans at points. Yet, he credited FIX's unwavering support for helping him grow. "I am who I am because you made me this way."

Seunghun expressed that after much reflection, he needs to "put down the title of singer for a while" and explore life as an ordinary person away from the stage. Having sung and danced since elementary school, he confessed fear about this new chapter but vowed to approach it with the same dedication. He thanked bandmates BX, Yonghee, and Hyunsuk for sharing both joys and hardships, calling his time with CIX the "brightest moments" of his youth. While hinting this pause may not be forever, his words carried a sense of closure mixed with hope.

The news has sparked an outpouring of support online, with many praising his vulnerability and wishing him peace. In an industry known for relentless pressure, Seunghun's choice highlights the very human need for rest and reinvention. As FIX processes this goodbye, one thing remains clear: the memories and music will endure. Fans are left reflecting on his journey, hoping whatever path he chooses next brings fulfillment.
