Kim Taeyeon, leader and main vocalist of legendary K-pop girl group Girls’ Generation, has renewed her contract with SM Entertainment, solidifying a bond that spans nearly two decades. The announcement, made by the agency on Friday morning, comes as the artist celebrates both her 19th debut anniversary and the 10th year of her solo career.

“Taeyeon has once again confirmed the deep trust by renewing her contract with SM, which has supported and accompanied her 19-year journey,” SM Entertainment stated in an official release. “We are delighted to join forces with this precious artist again, and will continue to support her in shining even more as a global artist.”
Since debuting with Girls’ Generation in August 2007 with Into the New World, Taeyeon has become one of K-pop’s most revered vocalists. The group went on to achieve iconic status, while her solo career launched in 2015 with the EP I has yielded chart-topping hits like Four Seasons, INVU, and To. X. Her music has amassed over 20 million digital single sales and more than one million physical album copies sold as of 2021, making her one of South Korea’s best-selling solo artists.
In December 2025, she marked her solo milestone with the 24-track compilation album Panorama: The Best of Taeyeon, a retrospective that highlights her evolution from idol to versatile musician. She also made history as the first female artist to perform on the Caseyfordom stage both as a group member and soloist.
