Prosecutors Seek 10-Year Sentence for Intruder in K-Pop Star Nana’s Home Invasion Case

Prosecutors have requested a 10-year prison term for a man accused of breaking into the home of singer and actress Nana last year.

The 30-year-old defendant, identified only as A, faced a closing hearing on May 19 at the Uijeongbu District Court’s Namyangju branch

He stands charged with robbery with injury after allegedly entering Nana’s residence in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, around November 2025. According to court details, the intruder demanded valuables while brandishing a weapon and threatening the occupants.

Nana, a former member of the girl group After School and a recognized actress, along with her mother, managed to overpower the suspect during a physical confrontation and handed him over to police. The incident left both women reporting significant emotional trauma.

During the trial, prosecutors emphasized the severity of the crime, noting that the defendant entered a private residence at night, targeted women, and has shown no genuine remorse.

The accused committed a serious offense by invading a home with a weapon and threatening female victims,” they argued, highlighting the ongoing psychological distress experienced by the victims.

The defense countered that while their client admits to nighttime trespassing and an attempted theft, there was no intent to commit robbery and insufficient evidence of a weapon. In his final statement, A expressed apologies to the victims and promised not to reoffend, though he continues to deny the full extent of the robbery charges.

Courtroom tension peaked when Nana appeared as a witness. Visibly emotional, she directly confronted the defendant, saying, “Is this fun for you? Look me straight in the eyes.”

The judge gently reminded her to observe courtroom etiquette, acknowledging her understandable distress while stressing the need for orderly proceedings. Nana later described the prolonged legal process as adding to her sense of victimization.

The case has spotlighted concerns about celebrity safety and home security in South Korea. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 9.

Nana has built a successful career spanning music, television dramas, and film, earning praise for her versatility. Fans have expressed support for her bravery in facing the suspect in court while calling for stronger protections for public figures.

This story continues to develop as the judicial process moves forward.
