"The Show" Makes Triumphant Return: Beloved K-Pop Music Program Back on Air

K-pop fans around the world have reason to celebrate today. After wrapping up its run last November and leaving a noticeable gap in the weekly music show lineup, “The Show” is officially coming back  and it’s aiming bigger than ever.

According to reports from YNA and the program’s own announcement, the long-running cable series will return with a brand-new season on June 2, 2026, now airing on SBS LIFE. The production has shifted hands following SBS Medianet’s withdrawal from the entertainment business last year. This time around, SBS LIFE is teaming up with BIGC, an entertainment-tech startup, with Kim Chil Sung  a veteran executive who previously worked at SBS Medianet  taking the helm.

Launched in April 2011, “The Show” spent nearly 14 years as a staple for emerging and established K-pop acts. It offered a platform particularly valued by artists from mid-tier and smaller agencies, providing crucial exposure through live performances, interviews, and its signature winner announcements. Many fans fondly remember its accessible vibe and role in spotlighting diverse talent every Tuesday.

Unlike a simple revival, the revamped program promises significant upgrades. Producers describe it as evolving into a true “global music show” designed to deliver innovative media experiences. The team has already held meetings with entertainment agencies to lock in the lineup for the June 2 premiere episode.

The official X (Twitter) account @theshow_offcl captured the excitement perfectly with a playful post: “Anyone who’s been waiting for ‘The Show’? Hands up with a big circle. ‘The Show’ is making a big comeback!” Accompanied by a fun graphic, the message quickly resonated with fans who had been missing their Tuesday fix.

This return comes at an interesting time for the K-pop industry. With several music programs facing changes or hiatuses in recent years, “The Show’s” comeback could help fill a void while adapting to new viewing habits — think stronger digital integration, global accessibility, and fresh production values powered by BIGC’s tech focus.

Whether you’re a longtime supporter or discovering the show for the first time, mark your calendars. June 2 marks not just a return, but a reimagining of a K-pop institution. Stay tuned for more details on hosts, format changes, and the debut lineup as the countdown begins.
